A one year anniversary is a huge accomplishment. It’s not an accomplishment to take lightly. Here’s the thing… being the owner of a FiveM city is by far the hardest/worst/underpaid job I’ve ever done. 😂 And I’m old. I’ve done a lotta jobs. And, truth be told, these last few weeks it’s felt very discouraging and very much like it’s not worth it. We can never make anyone happy. And no matter what you do over here, it’s bound to piss someone off over there. The more popular or populated the city gets, the more people fight with each other… and then, somehow blame it on you. Any time you try to help someone out, someone else tries to make it seem like you favorited them. Or you cheated FOR them. It’s rough. To work your ass off and it never be enough.
How we even made it to a year is a freakin miracle. And because of that fact… I think it should still be celebrated. The difficulty is the reason so many other cities don’t make it a year. It’s a tough act to pull off!
That’s gonna be my first shoutout … the devs that have developed this city deserve so much credit. I’m not gonna individually name everyone but we’ve had 3 badass main devs and they all know who they are. We’ve had a wizard clothing dev, an extraordinarily talented car dev and some other contributing devs that have put in work to make version 1 and the rebooted Version of Synergy.
Next, the Staff and City council have been the muscle and the motion of this city. Y’all would never ever believe the amount of conversations, debates, arguments, meetings, discord messages… you’d never believe it. And, unfortunately because the bad raps of other cities (and imma keep it a hunnit we’ve had some admins/staff do some stupid ass shit too lol) everyone blames staff for everything. Whether they do wrong or not. And staff takes it… defends themselves… has to suck it up… and they come back to try to serve the city well from there. For free. They come up with events and rewards and try to help find things that are broken and try to patch up disputes between other players. We’ve really been blessed with some of the best admins and staff that I’ve seen in any city ever. Not perfect. But still with faults included… they are the best. And I appreciate them so much.
So we got a badass team a builders and badass team of operators …. But what’s a dev team and staff … without YOU?
The Community of Synergy.
To the community of Synergy… in the last year, you have challenged me and stretched me and grown me. It was a rough start with me and community of people. Ngl. I was in a severe depression when I first opened Synergy. My life was largely solitude and severe chronic pain. I hadn’t lead a team or group of people in years due to my disability, so I needed to toughen up and thicken up my skin considerably, at first. Lol. Y’all put me through the wringer quick. I learned that I needed to develop a more healthy balance between being locked into the Game or PD or EMS or the business end of the city or the 10 other hats I had on. Y’all taught me to take care of myself so that I had the capacity to take care of the community and staff team better.
And don’t get me wrong… we’ve done impossible things in this past year. We’ve made memories that’ll make me laugh for years in the last year. We’ve had epic success and monumental failure in the past year. Some people have seen it all unfold. Some left. Some joined. Some came back.
One year…. 365 days. Millions of hours played!! (lol. It feels like)
Last but not least, no matter what the ups and no matter what the downs… none of it would have been possible if my partner hadn’t invited me into the opportunity to start a city of our own. Reflecting back on that, it’s a trip to think about how many times 2 people have sat back and thought “man fk this shit. Let’s open our OWN city.” Lol. Everyone does now a days. Yo… the amount of people that have said that in our own city has been crazy.
But me and Brian actually did it. And it worked. And even though we parted ways a few months ago… the Synergy name made it to the one year benchmark. And no matter what struggles we’ve had and made it through in the last 3 month, there is no Synergy One Year without the first 9 months. And that’s some pretty incredible shit. I’m forever grateful for that invite. I’m forever grateful for the hard lessons I have had to learn as the owner of a city. I’m forever grateful to the people who have support me and this city. I’m forever grateful for the people that don’t threaten to leave the city just cuz a scene went bad for em. 😆
